Letter to Staples Regarding Maple Creek Gunsmithing

Fremont

Dear Sir,

I am writing in response to your correspondence with my constituents, Travis Vonseggern and Bill Jackson of Maple Creek Gunsmithing, regarding their entry and subsequent rejection as contestants for your “PUSH It Forward” promotion.

As I understand it, the intent of your contest is to assist small businesses that are “vital to our communities.” Maple Creek Gunsmithing certainly fits that description.

Therefore, I was upset to learn that the Maple Creek Gunsmithing contest entry was hastily rejected because they serve as a retailer of firearms.  I find your exclusion of this legal and constitutionally protected business completely unacceptable.

Maple Creek Gunsmithing has not only contributed substantially to our community, but Mr. Vonseggern and Mr. Jackson are US Army veterans who, by the very nature of their service to our country, are wholly deserving of the recognition offered by your contest.

In fact, there is no better example of the reverence and respect afforded this local business than the outpouring of support they have received in the wake of your correspondence. The ire directed at your company has been severe and very real.

As a fellow veteran, small business owner and supporter of the 2nd Amendment, I would strongly urge you to reconsider your contest criteria and to rightfully acknowledge small businesses like Maple Creek Gunsmithing and legal firearm retailers across the nation.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your immediate reply.

Sincerely,

Charlie Janssen
