Republicans Turn Out for Crete Event

CRETE, NE - The Saline County Republican Party hosted a meet and greet event on Wednesday with Charlie Janssen, candidate for Nebraska Governor. Republican Liberty Caucus Chair Laura Ebke introduced Charlie to the crowd of 40 Republicans gathered at the 9th Street Grill in Crete for the first of many events the county party plans to host for candidates in the 2014 Elections.

Charlie spoke briefly on his background as a US Navy search and resuce swimmer in the first Gulf War and as founder of RTG Medical, a staffing company located in Fremont that employs more than 300 people nationwide. He took questions for 45 minutes on his record in the legislature and his platform for Governor, including issues like immigration, tax reform, voter ID laws, and gun rights.

"Principles matter to me. We may not always agree, but you will always know where I stand," Janssen said after a question on tax policy. "As a member of the Revenue Committee, I recently opposed a bill that provided tax subsidies for an out-of-state wind energy company. The priority should be income tax relief, especially for seniors and military retirees, and that's what I'm fighting for."
